Walking For Weight Loss

My husband and I started walking early in the mornings October 2010. He is a diabetic so he was walking for health reasons and I, for weight loss.

I was really excited that we were exercising together but by mid 2011 we both got lazy and stopped walking.

My husband is an electrician and works in the construction field so he gets his daily exercise. I however am in the accounting field so my job entails that I be at my desk a lot. With that being said I have to make an extra effort to get my daily exercise.

In June 2011 we went to my home town, Trinidad, for a vacation and on a few mornings I went walking. One morning I went walking up a hill and my right knee began hurting me. I had to walk very slow as I thought I would not have been able to make it back to my car. I had to get a stick to walk with by transferring my weight onto the stick. I eventually made it back to my car. That stick turned out to be cheap auto insurance - I was so relieved.

I recently had another injury while walking, I got water bladders under my feet! Can you believe that? Maybe it was due to the fact what I walked with my slippers because I forgot my sneakers at home that day. I was very surprised by this injury. I would then have to wait until my injuries heal before I exercise again.

Well of course there was always an excuse for me to not re start walking again.  So I said to myself that this ridiculous and I need to so something.  So I decided to look for some walking videos.  I found these, they are very good so you have no excuse not to do some sort of exercise. The workouts are simple and can be done at home, the videos is free.

There is no equipment to purchase, must click on the play icon and start walking.  One thing though, I found that I enjoyed my sessions better with my ear plugs.  I don't get enough volume on my computer but if you have external speakers attached to your computer, great!!!  You need to clearly hear the beat of the music to keep up with the power walking.

That was great wasn't it?  I started to get tired but I persisted.  I got really motivated to learn that I had just walked 2 miles and I got a great sweat too.  Could you believe it??? Awesome!!!!
