My Trip to St. Vincent
My husband and I traveled to St. Vincent on July
30, 2010 for a wedding on August 1. We stayed at Greiggs Village (his
home town). Of course they cooked a lot of Ground
Provision. Fresh food was cooked every morning and there was more than
adequate enough of food for every one so it would have been impolite to
cook a meal for myself alone.
My husband's elder sister cooking style is very
similar to mine and on a few occasions she would prepare her own meals
which many of the other members of the family would not eat. So I ate
stewed chicken, Stewed Saltfish, Stewed Mutton, these foods were
prepared with cooking oil and salt, the traditional way.
One day we went into town and I had some Kentucky
Fried Chicken. In the BVI there is no KFC franchise so anytime the
opportunity arises when we travel to St. Thomas we would have some
Kentucky Fried Chicken.
During all these indulges, I was anxious to get
back to my eating plan. My sister in law who has not seem me since I
have changed my eating habit, observed that I had lost some weight and
complimented me a few times.
This picture was taken at the wedding, I bought
this dress (at a store that sell Plus
Size Clothing)
for the occasion
and the size was 2X. As a full figure woman, I have to purchase my
cloths at a store that sell Plus
Size Clothing.
Normally I would have to buy a 3X dress.
When I got home from the store with the dress, I
tried it on and asked my husband to assist me in getting the zipper.
The zipper is one of the delicate ones. As he was trying to get the
zipper he keep saying that the dress was too small while I insisted
that it was not and that he should continue pulling the zipper up very
delicately. I was proud to show him that he was wrong.
As I was getting dressed for the wedding, my
sister-in-law asked me if I was getting married as I was wearing an off
white colored dress. I explained to her that I did not really chose the
dress because of its color but because that I fit me quite well. This
is a rare occurrence for me.
Before my trip, I purchased a lovely white blouse
to travel in and I am excited to say that it was a size 1X. Normally
for a blouse I would have to get a size 2X or 3X.
I realize that I am walking very briskly now. This
is just great as I remember in 2008 on a trip to Florida, my husband
complained that I was always lagging behind him, now as we walked
around Kingstown in St. Vincent, I was either in front of him or
keeping up with him side by side. If he has noticed this, he did not
make any comment. I am proud of this accomplishment and it is mainly
due to my job where I have to be literally brisk in attending to my
guests needs.
At the time of this report, my weight is 229lbs,
when I started my program, my weight was 249lbs. I am happy and
thankful for my weight loss of 20lbs and I know I have a long way to
go.
