I have tried many dieting, pills,exercising programs and I lost some weight but eventually put it back on. One time I tried Atkins program and I really did not feel so good about eating that about of fat and I stopped using the program. One day I told my friend that I found that I felt like eating all the time and then I realized that it was the after effects of the Atkins diet.
I later tried another program where I ate in small portions and counted my calories. With my doctor's approval I decided to try this program. I think after about 6 weeks I notice that my pants were very loose on me. I was so elated. It took a lot of effort, specific grocery shopping, checking calories of products, preparing meals so the total calories consumed in one eating, did not pass a certain amount.
I remember my husband purchased a black bikini for me and I wore it on the beach. I had a favorite white Capri and when I lost the weight, it was falling to my hips and was not looking too attractive.
My son noticed that I was making the extra effort with this program and I was getting some success with it. One day he told me that he was proud of me and how I was sticking to the program. After a while, I notice that the weight loss stopped. I want to hear him say that to me again.

In 2008 my husband and I went to Florida and we stayed at Motel 6. One evening as I was getting ready to go to bed I looked in the mirror and thought that I looked fat as a tub. I got really depressed. It took quite of my spiritual will power to break that depression. As I lay in bed I continuously told myself 'GOD LOVES ME!'. It was tough. I did not tell my husband because he would not understand and I did not want to spoil his trip.
For mothers day that same year, my son gave me a subscription to the gym for three months to assist me to achieve my goal. Well to be honest that did not go too well. I did not lose the weight that I wanted at the end of the period.
I saw the 6week body make over program a few years ago and thought it was not for me because I read in a few forums that you will have to eat my food without salt. I was not prepared to make that sacrifice in addition the cost was about $100.00 and I could not afford it at the time. Now in March 2010, they made the program available whereby you can make the payment in six installments. This was my opportunity and I purchased the program. I was ready!!!
I have two children and they are young adults. My daughter has a physique like I did when I was her age and my son is taller and very slim. He got his physique from his father.
My daughter and I decided to do this project together because she has alot of weight issues and experiences growing up as a young child. She wrote an article about it and when I read it, I almost cried. It is so sad and I am sure many young people have these same type of experiences. Here is her story.
What kind of healthy eating habits should I be adopting?
Aim for three main meals a day. Most people need to eat more starchy foods and more fruit and vegetables, as well as reducing their fat intake, drinking less alcohol and eating less salt and sugar.
